When the government enables churches to enable child abusers

I’m truly baffled. Which deserves to be set on fire more? Churches that protect child abusers? Or states that enable churches to protect child abusers?

This first came to my attention because of Sovereign Grace Ministries and their horrific story of abuse and cover-up: Megachurch Pastor Confesses to Protecting Child Molester for Years.

Meanwhile, all these big names in Southern/evangelicalness were all, oh these are stand up guys. I’m sure everything is on the up and up. You know how people are always faking this child abuse business because of the devil and stuff. (I’m paraphrasing.) So it has turned into this big thing.

So then someone on Facebook brought up how church leaders in their state are legally allowed to enable and facilitate child abuse by these messed up, God-awful state laws. These terrible confidentiality clauses free the clergy to cause innocent children to suffer and allow child abusers to continue to abuse more and more kids. Sometimes AS CHURCH LEADERS who have the trust of the parents in the church community. What the hell?

Luckily, Texas isn’t one of those states. (I told you sometimes wizards or geniuses are writing our laws and rules. SOMETIMES.).

You can find out if your state is one of the lucky ones or awful ones here. Be prepared to be sickened and disappointed.
