Taking a break
So we went on a family vacation in the beginning of September, and I took a break from blogging. And the inertia. It got the best of me. You know, objects at rest. So the break pretty much never stopped. And I've been working to get the girls off of all screens. Starting with the TV and ending with the iPads. And so I've been trying to get off all screens too. And it is kind of nice. The no screens. And also, the more I've been reading and thinking about religion, the worse I feel about it. So I took most of September off, if you hadn't noticed. But I'll be back in October. Probably. Mostly with pumpkin-related stuff. Because pumpkins. They don't let me down or make my brain hurt.
OK, so it's October. Just wanted you to know in case you didn't own a calendar or something. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally had written like two blog posts and I keep getting all chicken shit and not posting them. I feel like I should just be like, HAPPY THINGS! and THINGS THAT AREN'T QUITE PINTEREST WORTHY! But I guess I should just stick to what I know, offending my moms friends.
DeleteIf you get a chance PLEASE do a post about the no screens thing and how/why. I am so interested in hearing more about that!
ReplyDeletehonestly, it gets so much easier when they are older (sorry about your recommendations, AAP, but we basically reversed it). it was so, so hard when I was nursing Maggie to not use the TV to occupy Hannah. Because even if I tried to give her some activity, she’d inevitably need me to get her something or look at something or whatever. And I was like, actually, I can’t. I have a baby attached to my boob. I don’t know if you saw this post, but this was the biggest help

when I stopped trying to quit TV and screens was when I did it, weirdly enough. combined with trying to do the PRIDE skills it just sort of happened. We still watch TV when they get sick though. I’m not crazy about it. They are also in daycare so it’s not like I can pat myself on the back too hard. But we still keep the TV off on the weekends. And even if I were to try to turn it on so I could, idk, pee by myself, they just ignore it and are like, what is that noise, turn it off. They do like doing yoga with the TV though, so we sometimes do that with Hannah though. but that is about it.
